Airbag Control Unit (ACU)
Bosch designed an Airbag Control Unit using an embedded processor that must respond within microseconds to sensor inputs (accelerometers, gyroscopes). The processor must be highly reliable, low power, and real-time compliant (Analyse, BOSCH 2021, CO1) Questions: 1.Identify the key structural units of the embedded processor used in safety-critical automotive systems. 2.Explain why interrupt latency is a critical parameter in an airbag deployment system. 3.Justify the use of a RISC-based processor over a CISC processor for this application. 4.Analyze the role of on-chip memory (Flash, SRAM) in ensuring real-time performance. 5.Evaluate the trade-offs between performance, power consumption, and safety certification in processor selection.
