Literature Survey on emerging areas related t
Students are required to conduct a literature survey on emerging areas related to Electric Vehicles by reviewing recent research papers, review articles, conference papers, or technical reports published in the last 5–8 years.
Each student should:
Select one emerging area in EV technology.
Collect at least 5–8 scholarly references (journals, IEEE papers, Scopus, Google Scholar, etc.).
Summarize the key ideas, methods, and findings of the selected works.
Identify research gaps, challenges, or future scope in the chosen area.
Present the content in a structured technical format.

Ideation for EV related problems
Read the EV problem statements given below.
Select any one problems from the list.
For each selected problem, perform the following:
Understand the problem and identify its root cause
Generate 2–3 innovative solution ideas
Explain how your idea improves sustainability, efficiency, cost, or user experience
Present your work clearly using diagrams, flowcharts, or concept sketches where applicable
EV Problem Statements for Ideation
1. Limited Charging Infrastructure
In many regions, charging stations are not widely available in rural areas, highways, hostels, and apartment complexes. This lack of access discourages EV adoption and limits long-distance travel.
Ideation Focus: How can charging access be expanded in under-served areas using cost-effective and space-efficient solutions?
2. Long Charging Time
EV charging takes much longer than refueling conventional vehicles. Fast chargers are expensive and limited, leading to long waiting times and inconvenience.
Ideation Focus: How can charging time be reduced or made more efficient without harming battery life or increasing cost?
3. Range Anxiety
Drivers often worry about running out of battery before reaching their destination due to uncertain real-world driving conditions such as traffic, terrain, and climate.
Ideation Focus: How can drivers be better assisted in predicting and managing battery range?
4. Battery Degradation and Replacement Cost
EV batteries degrade over time due to repeated charging cycles and temperature effects. Battery replacement is costly and affects long-term affordability.
Ideation Focus: How can battery life be extended or replacement cost reduced through design or operational strategies?
5. Recycling and Disposal of EV Batteries
Used batteries pose environmental risks if not recycled properly. Valuable materials like lithium and cobalt are often wasted.
Ideation Focus: How can EV batteries be reused (second-life) or recycled in an eco-friendly and economical manner?
6. Charging During Power Outages
Power cuts and unstable electricity supply make EV charging unreliable in many areas.
Ideation Focus: How can EVs be charged during power failures using backup or alternative energy sources?
7. Lack of User Awareness and Technical Knowledge
Many users are unaware of proper charging practices, battery maintenance, and safety measures, leading to inefficient use and possible damage.
Ideation Focus: How can EV users be educated effectively in a simple and accessible way?
8. Thermal Management in Hot Climate Conditions
High temperatures affect battery efficiency, lifespan, and safety, especially in tropical regions.
Ideation Focus: How can batteries, motors, and power electronics be cooled efficiently in hot environments?
9. High Initial Cost of EVs
Although EVs have lower operating costs, their high purchase price limits adoption among students, commuters, and middle-income families.
Ideation Focus: How can the upfront cost of EVs be reduced through design, materials, or business models?
10. Integration with Renewable Energy
Most EVs rely on grid electricity, which is often generated from fossil fuels. Renewable energy integration is limited by cost and availability.
Ideation Focus: How can EV charging be effectively powered using solar or wind energy in a reliable way?.
